Banana & Avocado Moisturizing Facemask

Do you remember the days when you had all the time in the world to relax as much as you wanted to? I certainly do, and boy do I miss those days!

So when I found myself with a couple of spare hours, after dropping the kids off at various nurseries and schools the other day, I decided to treat myself to some “me time”, some relaxation time by myself, but obviously having 2 young children means that the budget doesn’t stretch to those lovely Spa’s that I walk past every day in town, so it would have to be a do-it-yourself face mask job, that was fine by me as long as I got my well deserved rest. So I went home and started to mix up one my favourite moisturising facemasks. It’s probably one of my oldest recipes and by far the easiest, anyone, anywhere can whip this up in just a few minutes! All you need is:

  • A Banana
  • An Avocado
  • A tablespoon of Honey

Being a Beauty Therapist I have a great knowledge of the vitamin and mineral contents of natural products and their effects on the skin. So before I let you in on my amazing facemask recipe, here are the contents and their vitamin and mineral values…

Banana…

Bananas are known for being rich in Vitamins A, C and B6, they also contain high amounts of Calcium and Iron, which all contribute to banana’s fantastic way of reducing inflamed red skin. Even the ancient Egyptians are said to have used mashed banana as a beauty product.

Over-ripe bananas are best for facemasks as they mash a lot more easily than firm under-ripe ones.

Avocado…

Avocado is also known for being rich in Vitamins A and C as well as Vitamins E and K, Calcium, Iron and Zinc. Avocado is great for being used as an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant, so any skin problems you may have will be quickly sorted out by using avocado.

Honey…

Honey is fantastic for the skin, especially if you suffer from dry skin as its an excellent moisturiser, and is my absolute favourite skin care product. It’s extremely high in Vitamin C and various B Vitamins and amino acids. Like avocado its also great as an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and an anti-viral.

The Recipe:

This is so simple and easy to make, you can treat your skin to a facemask everyday!

  1. Mash the banana up with a fork until there are no lumps left.
  2. Add in the avocado and mash it up, also until there are no lumps, while mixing it with the banana.
  3. Sprinkle in a tablespoon of honey, to bind the mixture together and also just for the honeys great effects on your skin.
  4. Keep mixing all the ingredients together until you are certain that they have blended together.
  5. And now apply the concoction on to your face and neck (and any where else you want to!)
  6. Leave on for 15 minutes, or longer if you wish.
  7. Now wash off the mixture to reveal your gorgeous fresh looking skin!

Super simple and amazingly effective!! Enjoy your beautiful new skin!
